It's all about you

Do you want a warm, friendly wedding - with you at the heart of it?

Do you want an original wedding - one that is created just for you?

This page gives you an idea of what I offer couples. But it can be best to talk - or email - with no obligation to you.

If I'm booked for your date, or we don't feel that we are a fit, I can help you find a different celebrant for your special day.

I t's about your love...

... and the marriage you are entering into…

Do you want the freedom to have a wedding that reflects your beliefs, whatever they are?

Would you like a humanist-style ceremony?

Do you and your partner come from different religious traditions? Do you want a wedding that combines these, in a way that is harmonious and comfortable to you both?

If you don't have a specific religious tradition - do you still want a wedding that weaves in spiritual meaning?

I t's about what you’ve chosen for your day…

Do you want a wedding that celebrates your Scottish setting? The Quaich, handfasting, ring-warming, pinning of the tartan?

Do you want a ceremony that reflects the feeling of your venue? Outdoors, city-sophisticated, beach, rustic, historic castle, or family-friendly…or anywhere else?

Do you want an intimate gathering, or something larger (even much larger) - or something in between?

I offer ceremonies in Glasgow city centre, Edinburgh city centre, the Central Belt, Ayrshire, Loch Lomond and St Andrews.

I will travel anywhere in the world to hold your wedding, if we feel that we should work together.

H ow do we do it…?

We’ll talk.

I’ll listen. No obligation at any point here.

If we decide to work together, I’ll create a draft for you, and we’ll bounce that between us until it is just right for you.

Closer to the day, you can have a rehearsal, depending on your setting, and certainly a full run-through. You'll also have me at the end of the phone, or contactable by email, for any help or advice. There is no further cost for this.

On the day, I hold your legal wedding for you.

I keep some dates free for last minute weddings.

I am happy to travel – it depends on your setting and my diary.

I do not charge any travel fees for weddings in or near the Central Belt.

L et me help

I have many years’ experience of holding legal ceremonies for couples in Scotland (and a few further afield).  I have enjoyed every single one of them - this is work from the heart!

As a minister with The One Spirit Interfaith Seminary (and covered by professional insurance), I welcome couples from all faith traditions - or none.

As well as being a minister, I have a background as a writer - every ceremony I create is original, written for you, based on who you are and what you want.

I have a good understanding of the invisible things that help make a ceremony flow smoothly. The final decision is always up to you, but I can offer ideas as we create your wedding.

A wedding is a threshold moment, so it's natural if nerves come in. I won't promise to banish every tension (I'm not sure that's even the right thing to do) but I'll be by your side, on the run-up to the day, and on the day, to offer my experience and help.

Do you live outside Scotland, or overseas?

I have created and held weddings for couples from the US, Australia, Canada and New Zealand.

It's easier than you might think to plan remotely, and then arrive in Scotland, with everything in place, prepared for your special day.

Within the UK, I visit London and the South West regularly, so we could have the chance to meet there.

Wherever you live, I can talk you through what’s involved in getting married in Scotland.
